Service Description

Course Description: This intensive 1-day Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course is designed to provide emergency responders with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to manage critically injured patients in the prehospital environment. Emphasizing a systematic, evidence-based approach, the course focuses on rapid trauma assessment, prioritization of life-threatening conditions, and timely interventions that improve patient outcomes. Participants will learn how to effectively manage trauma across a variety of scenarios, including blunt and penetrating injuries, with a strong emphasis on critical thinking and decision-making under pressure. Through a combination of interactive lectures, practical skill stations, and scenario-based training, students will build confidence in delivering high-quality trauma care from the scene to transport. This course reinforces the principles of the “golden hour” and prepares providers to act decisively in dynamic, high-risk environments while working as part of a coordinated response team. Skills Covered: * Primary and secondary trauma assessment * Airway management and ventilation techniques * Hemorrhage control (tourniquets, wound packing, pressure dressings) * Shock recognition and management * Spinal motion restriction and patient stabilization * Rapid trauma triage and prioritization * Patient packaging and transport considerations * Communication and teamwork in high-stress scenarios * Scene safety and situational awareness * Trauma patient reassessment and ongoing care
